Clawson’s 1905 Restaurant & Pub overlooks the Beaufort Waterfront from its home in two historic buildings, the oldest of which dates from 1905. Take a photo walk-through tour of the building and check out the century of history displayed throughout the restaurant.

Clawson’s is across from the town docks between Island Traders and Island Outfitters and is easily accessible by car, boat, bike, foot or trolley.
The Mullet Line Trolley picks up throughout downtown and is $1 a day to ride.
Street parking is available in the downtown area and is totally free in the off-season. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, parking spots on Front Street cost $1 an hour. Parking on side streets and other parking lots remains free during summer. The machines only take coins or cards and are maintained by the Town of Beaufort, 252-728-2141. A dinghy dock is located at Grayden Paul Park in front of Town Hall, next to the gazebo. Day docks are located along the boardwalk on either side of the Dock House Restaurant.

Beaufort Historic Site : Home to historic buildings and information from Beaufort’s 300+ years. Take tours of the Old Burying Ground, preserved Beaufort homes and the larger historic district on the double-decker bus tour.
N.C. Maritime Museum, Beaufort: In addition to its dozens of maritime exhibits, the Museum offers seminars, lectures and kids activities and oversees the W.C. Harvey Watercraft Center, where craftsmen continue the Beaufort tradition of wooden boatbuilding.

Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center: Located about 20 miles outside of Beaufort in Harkers Island, the Museum and Heritage Center celebrates Down East traditions. The drive is scenic with views over the marsh grasses, small creeks and sounds, culminating with a clear view of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse as you approach the museum. Each December the Museum hosts the Core Sound Waterfowl Weekend, which coincides with the Decoy Carver’s Guild’s annual Decoy Festival.

Mardi Gras on Middle Lane: Held on the weekend following Fat Tuesday. Street festival complete with costume parade, food and drink vendors and live music. Free.
Beaufort Wine & Food Weekend: Held on the last full weekend in April. Events range from wine tasting seminars to wine dinners to casual affairs and food and drink expos. Ticket prices vary. Details
National Boatbuilding Challenge: Held on the first Saturday in May. Amateur woodworkers team up to build a simple skiff. Teams race each other across Taylors Creek and back in their finished vessels at the competitions close. Details
Wooden Boat Show: Held on the first Saturday in May. See the recent and most impressive in modern wooden boat building. Details
Beaufort Music Festival: Held the second weekend in May in both downtown and just outside town at the new Maritime Museum Gallants Channel Property. Features local bands, regional outfits and nationally recognized headliners. Details
Beaufort Old Homes & Gardens Tour: The longest running Beaufort event, held on the last full weekend in June. Tour private homes, gardens, Bed & Breakfasts and artist studios. ~$20. Details
Beaufort Pirate Invasion: Held the second weekend in August. Pirates attack the Beaufort Waterfront just as they did 400 years ago. Pirate music, games, vending, vignettes, food and plenty of roving buccaneers for photo ops. Free. Details
BOO-Fort Halloween: Held on Halloween night. Bars and restaurants offer drink specials, costume contests, live music and more.
Community Thanksgiving Feast: Held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Beaufort restaurants donate and serve traditional thanksgiving dinner on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site. ~ $20. Details
Christmas in Downtown: Held from the weekend after Thanksgiving to mid-month. Events include Santa’s arrival by boat, visits with Santa, the Beaufort Holiday ArtWalk, the Beaufort Christmas parade, pancake breakfast with Santa, Christmas Tree lighting and the local favorite Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla boat parade. Crystal Coast Countdown New Years events: Held the week before New Year’s Day throughout the county. Beaufort events include Marshmallows and Resolutions, a look into the new year, and watching a pirate walk the plank into the creek at the Pirate Plunge. Details
